Leave room
for the long way.

A small notebook about Canada's wide-open spaces. Less itinerary. More time to notice the light, the trees, and the people beside you.

Three ways to slow down

A morning by the water

Choose a public lakeside path close to where you are staying. Bring a warm layer and a flask. Leave the headphones behind for ten minutes and listen before you start walking.

Take the forest loop

A short, marked trail can be a better day than a rushed summit. Check the local park's current notices, stay on the trail, and turn back while you still have daylight.

Keep an evening for the sky

Find a permitted viewpoint away from bright streets. Let your eyes adjust and put your phone away. Clouds are part of the experience, not a failed plan.

Pack for the pause.

Water, a weather-appropriate layer, comfortable shoes, an offline map, and a little extra time. Tell someone your route. Take your litter home and give wildlife plenty of space.

These are general field notes, not route or weather reports. Always check official local guidance for your destination.
